Branka Radonic explores the boundaries between textile, drawing, and sculpture, using twine and paint as her primary materials. By interweaving threads, she shapes forms that radiate spatial dynamism, layering, and tactile presence.
Industrial materials are transformed into abstract compositions, while chromatic treatment further emphasise the textural vitality of her floating structures.
Radonic’s works combine a contemporary approach with historical context: twine, as line and knot, evokes Andean khipu, the ancient textile systems used for recording and structuring knowledge. In this way, textile becomes a medium that simultaneously conveys information and shapes space, continuing the tradition of artistic recording through material.
The series reflects years of research and the development of the artist’s authentic techniques, offering fresh perspectives on contemporary textile art.
